Hey there, fellow Juans! If you’re planning to spend a cheap day in Singapore and want to make the most out of your trip, look no further! I’ve got the perfect itinerary to help you explore the iconic sights and must-visit places in this vibrant city.

I wonder how many steps I’ve taken while touring around with various acquaintances who visited Singapore with their families, friends, classmates, neighbors, and co-workers. I’ve probably covered all the famous attractions and renowned places in Singapore during my seven-year stay here. Whenever a visiting acquaintance asks for suggestions on places to visit during their short vacation, I effortlessly provide recommendations, which they later thank me for. Let’s get started!

Morning Adventure, Walking Experience in Chinatown.

At 9AM, head straight to Chinatown – experience culture and history. Begin your walk on Pagoda Street, where you can find a variety of items to purchase, from clothes, toys, accessories, perfumes, and more. This might be one of the affordable places to buy souvenirs. As you continue walking down the streets and alleys, you’ll to see fascinating street murals on walls, elders dancing on the street, some people playing board games, and occasional performances by entertainers.

After exploring the lively streets, make your way to the astonishing Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and Museum. Inside, you’ll be captivated by intricate statues and designs reminiscent of ancient Tang Dynasty temples. You can also come across a Hindu Temple and a Mosque standing next to each other with represents Singapore’s rich culture, embracing cultural diversity and promoting religious tolerance. Remember to dress appropriately and be respectful as you experience these sacred places.

A Short Stop to Fill your Stomach

It’s time to satisfy your taste buds with some authentic local dishes! Don’t worry about getting hungry; Chinatown has got you covered. There are plenty of restaurants and eateries serving mouthwatering Chinese cuisine. You’ll even find the world’s cheapest Michelin star restaurant here, where you must try the famous Chicken Rice.

Head over to Maxwell Food Court, a famous hub where you can choose from various local dishes. With over 100 stalls offering a variety of delectable eats, this food court is a hit among both tourists and locals. Restrooms are available here for you to take a break.

Marina Bay Extravaganza

After a satisfying lunch, it’s off to Marina Bay Sands (MBS) – an architectural marvel that defines the Singapore skyline. Get ready for an afternoon, this is perhaps the highlight of the day.

Start at the ArtScience Museum, an iconic lotus shaped landmark, a personal favorite, that captured my eyes among all the remarkable structures along the bay. If you have extra penny, you will be amazed at fascinating exhibits that blend art, science, and technology inside the museum. It’s a unique experience that’ll leave you in awe.

Hop on a rental bike and cruise along the scenic route from the museum to the Cloud Forest and Flower Dome. You’ll pass by landmarks like Satay by the Bay, Singapore Flyers, Fullerton, and the famous Merlion. This bike ride will give you a glimpse of Singapore’s modern marvels.

As the evening approaches, take some time to relax and Makansutra is a good option to have a delightful dinner with its many food selection. If you are travelling alone, you can get inside the Esplanade and grab a quick takeaway sandwich and sit in front of the Esplanade by the Bay while listening or watching to a free performance.

Mesmerizing Light Shows

As the sun sets at 7 PM, head to Marina Bay Sands. Walk towards the picturesque Helix Bridge.

Be sure not to miss the amazing Spectra Lightshow at 8 PM, right in front of MBS. It’s a mesmerizing blend of lights, water, and music that’ll leave you feeling enchanted. Right after this, head towards Gardens by the Bay for another dazzling light show, Garden Rhapsody at 8:45 PM. Find a comfortable place where you can lay you back as you watch the show. It will be the best way to end your long day of walking around.
