Feliz Ano Novo – Happy New Year – Manigong Bagong Taon ’24

Happy New Year, every Juan! 2023 was certainly a blast, and I wonder what 2024 has in store for us. Another year of positivity, goals, and wishes for the uncertain future ahead. It’s likely to be a successful year again, or perhaps there is going to be a breakthrough. In any case, I cannot expect anything for less, so might as well make a list of the things I want to accomplish this year.

A New Year Resolution

I am not the kind of guy who likes making New Year resolutions, but for the sake of trying something new, why not give it a try? I’ll approach it the way I used to when I was younger, making a list of my plans for the next year, five years, and ten years. This way, I would have something to reflect on and see if I’ve become more productive at the end of the year.

It has been 11 years since I wrote something like this, and I can never complain about anything that happened to me. I am what I am because of the decisions I made, and those plans served as my blueprints. Let’s get it on!

A year

  1. Start going to the gym or Yoga class or Pilates.
  2. Read books, again!
  3. Improve carpentry.
  4. Print new and useful 3D models.
  5. Learn new skills.
  6. Plant a tree.
  7. Set a specific time for playing phone games and do not download any other gaming apps.
  8. Join a running event.
  9. Continue writing.
  10. Attend a Portuguese class and learn the language.
  11. Get a driving license.
  12. Be confident.

5 years

  1. Travel to Africa.
  2. Travel to Asia. home.
  3. Hangout with friends from Asia.

10 years

  1. Start a business.
  2. Build a house.
  3. Adopt a pet.

As Per Juan…

This is more like a letter to encourage myself to be better, to dream more, and work even harder than in the past years to improve myself. This year will be a little different from your comfort zone, Juan, but you won’t be alone. You will have new connections, new friends and newfound families to help you achieve your desires in life. Like what you always used to say, ‘you can make it!’
