What’s up Juan!
This fifth month is quite interesting for a few reasons.
A legit movie goer. I’ve noticed that I’ve been getting more into movies lately and going to the cinema more often. It wasn’t part of my original plan, but since I don’t have much else to do here, going to the cinema has kept me occupied. Interestingly, I’ve had the chance to see some of the directors of the movies I’ve been watching over the past few weeks. I even had a chat with a Filipino director, King Palisoc, when his film was featured at Fantasporto – Porto Film Festival.
Winter is almost over. Beautiful tulips have been planted in parks, and trees are starting to bloom. It was cold and rainy most of the time, with days of quick hailstorms that could probably be a sign that winter is almost over. I usually stayed at home, cooking homemade food and experimenting with Western cuisine. I binge-watched a few series on Netflix, something I haven’t done for more than a year since our last apartment at Ghim Moh Link in Singapore.
Election. It was a significant moment for the Portuguese people due to the election of the new president. It’s interesting that it was held on the same day I was celebrating my fifth year in Portugal.
A few occasions and events we attended. From CNY, Carnaval parade to Valentines Day. A Film festival, Opera and a viewing party.
Tapas Mia. Mixed emotions since my friend finally decided to close the restaurant permanently. It was my go-to place for Asian food at lunchtime or whenever I want to chat over a cup of coffee with my Filipino-speaking friend in Porto. I will certainly miss the place and company.

Life must go on. I’m still happy to be here in Porto, which could be possibly my permanent home.
